In the last decades, technology has had a huge impact on our everyday life, evolving often more rapidly than law and policy. The mission of the Group is to discuss and tackle the most pressing legal and ethical issues - as well as the affordances - stemming from current emerging technologies. Through an interdisciplinary approach we aim to close the gap between law, policy, ethics, and technology by training students, rising awareness among policymakers, and informing the public about key challenges, possible solutions and opportunities.

Scientific dialogue between law experts and scientists is promoted  through the organization of meetings and seminars and other study and research activities in Turin and abroad. We also identify and create opportunities for computer scientists and engineers to improve access to justice.

In recent years, the Group has extended its focus on digital governance, underuse of artificial intelligence, right to science, right to an explanation and use of Big Data in the contest of medical research, with the aim to produce content through papers, reports, and Open Source applications that will benefit all relevant stakeholders.

The Group and its activities provide a uniquely valuable forum in Turin and for the rest of the world.
